Green Toilet is an ecological composting dry toilet designed and manufactured in Finland. Green Toilet operates without any water or electricity and is therefore an ideal solution anywhere where there is no drainage or water available. This lager version, Green Toilet 330 is suitable for bigger families, year-round-use or to public sites, such as nature trails, summer cafes of marinas. Also, it is the right choice when long service intervals are important.

OPERATING PRINCIPLE
Inside the Green Toilet container, there is a special double base, which separates the urine from the solid waste making the toilet completely odorless and pleasant to use. The special capillary bottom allows some of the urine to be absorbed back to the composting solid waste, just like in under watering flowerpots. This unique feature of the Green Toilet speeds up the composting process significantly. Efficient composting requires suitable moisture: the mass inside the container should not be too wet or too dry.
The excess liquid, ie. the seap liquid is led through a hose from the bottom of the container to a canister. Alternatively, the seap liquid can be filtered with a GeoTrap Dry Toilet Filter.
The use and the service of the Green Toilet is based on batch composting: when the composting container in use gets full, it is pulled out of the toilet by wheels and a spare container is taken into use. Alternatively, if there is no spare container in use, the pre-composted waste can be put to a garden composter to fully decompose.
The third important feature is the ventilation pipe, which ensures that the air flows from the toilet seat and composting container outwards and no unpleasant odor is let into toilet in any circumstances. The ventilation also boosts the evaporation of liquid – especially at warm weather.

GREEN TOILET COMPOSTING CONTAINER MATERIAL
The colour and material of our Green Toilet products (GT 120, GT 330 and GT Lux) are being updated in May 2026. We are transitioning from dark green plastic granulate to black recycled material – a durable, high-quality and environmentally responsible choice. The change affects the product’s appearance only – dimensions, functionality, quality and pricing remain completely unchanged. The timeless black colour suits a wide range of environments, making these products an even more versatile option.
SERVICE
When the Green Toilet container gets full and it is time for service, the flexible part of the ventilation pipe and the liquid hose are taken off. No tools are needed for this. After this, the container is pulled out with wheels.
Then the Green Toilet spare container is taken into use and the bottom of the empty container is covered with dry material. The lid with the waste shaft is put on the empty container and put back to the toilet. The full container is covered with a closed lid and left to decompose until it is time for the next service.
WARRANTY
All Green Toilet dry toilets come with a 10-year frame/structure warranty.
COMMON USE CASES
Green Toilet 330 is the right choice to holiday and permanent homes when there are users 4-6 persons. It allows longer service intervals than the smaller Green Toilet 120 Family.

What factors affect the composting process?
✅ Usage frequency – Composting takes time. If the toilet is used frequently without enough time for decomposition, the container will fill up faster.

How should excess liquid (leachate) from a composting toilet be handled?
Using a composting toilet typically generates some excess liquid known as leachate. This liquid is usually collected in a separate canister. While it contains valuable nutrients and can be considered an eco-friendly fertilizer, it may also include fecal bacteria and should therefore not be used directly on edible plants.
To reduce the bacterial content, the leachate can be stored in a sealed container for at least a year — for example, frozen over winter — which significantly lowers the risk.
Untreated leachate can be safely used as fertilizer for non-edible plants, such as ornamental shrubs and trees. It’s important to ensure that the application site is at least 30 meters (about 100 feet) away from any water sources, such as wells, ditches, ponds, or shorelines. Rotate the application area each time to avoid nutrient buildup and make the most of recycling nutrients on your own property.

Adjusting waste shaft
The Green Toilet has vertically adjusting waste shaft (0-20 cm) so that it fits all outhouse structures below the toilet seat no matter what the height is.
Spacious but not too big
The Green Toilet 330 has a great capacity even for public use. Hence the maintenance interval is reasonably long. On the other hand, the size of the Green Toilet is not too big so that it is effortless to be pulled out and moved around during maintenance.
Spare container is great!
There is also a spare container available separately for the Green Toilet. The spare container enables continuous use of the toilet. As the former Green Toilet container fills up, there is a spare container that can be put into use immediately. Hence you can linearly extend the capacity according to your needs. In busy places, like public parks, it is common to have multiple space containers ready for service.
Laboratory tested process
Green Toilet has been tested to reduce Escherichia coli by over 99.8 % during a month test period. Eventually all hazardous bacteria will vanish during composting process by time and natural heat.
